This declaration Slovenia Phone Number List followed a period of increasing political and ethnic tensions within the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Slovenia, which had been a republic within the federation, sought greater autonomy as the larger Yugoslav federation began to unravel, particularly after the rise of nationalist movements in the 1980s and early 1990s. The declaration of independence was met with resistance from the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA), which attempted to maintain control. However, Slovenia's armed forces successfully defended the country, and after a brief 10-day conflict known as the Ten-Day War, the JNA withdrew. Despite the fighting, Slovenia’s declaration was widely supported both domestically and internationally, and Slovenia quickly gained recognition from various countries, including the European Union. In the aftermath of independence, Slovenia became a fully sovereign state. It continued to develop its democratic institutions and pursued integration with European and global organizations. Slovenia formally became a member of the United Nations in 1992 and later joined the European Union and NATO in 2004, solidifying its place in the international community
